Where's the Art CARU?

I've been having more time to work and to think since the girls have been growing up. Less picking up from school, less time to be pretending to be a princess and more time for my head and Mrs Arantus. Like many artists the ideas pop in and out, we roll them around and occasionally try them for size.

One of my ideas is being extracted from my brain for the exhibition, Where's the Art? with the Contemporary Arts Research Unit at Modern Art Oxford.

It is an imaginary work that is realised by the reader, the person who is willing to make that phone call in the usually pristine world of the white cube gallery. To sully it with your talk of late nights, forgotten washing and lewd revelations.

It is a free event, with tunes and I'm sure plenty of interesting peeps - 28th September, 7-10pm, 30 Pembroke Street, Oxford, OX1 1BP.

Postcard Death - Sonja Benskin Mesher

'Tates- 1' - Ed Arantus

There's a man who comes round maybe every one or two months.
His name is Keith and he used to be a policeman, a detective I think.
He knows I like art and he hands me his old Tate and Royal Academy magazines.
It's the nearest some of us get to a gallery.
Over the past year I've started to cut them up and make more Art.
It seems the way it should be.

I've just sent off one to Sonja Benskin Mesher in Wales.
She's asked for a postcard size artwork 4 x 6 inches based on the theme of Death.
An online “live” archive will record the work and other details of the exhibition as the works come in. Hopefully my offering might make its way into....

A Book about Death

A world wide phenomenon which began in New York with Mathew Rose, artists are invited to create a page in the form of a postcard about death.

The exhibition runs from October 18th to November 15th 2014 at The Royal Cambrian Academy ABAD.

Its always a pleasure to receive an email from the Magnetic Godfather, Alban Low himself. My life drifts in the inevitable ebbs and flows with domestic successes and failures like most people. This means that my Art and creativity gets thrust to one side, so I grab every opportunity to show my ideas to wider audience if I can. Last week I got the email I'd been waiting for all winter and moved into action, opening the girls' lunchboxes each day to see if there was an orange peel creation I could enter in CollectConnect's new exhibition.

If you didn't know about FAB Fridge then it is one of the most original and inclusive exhibitions on the UK Art scene. It was my first street art exhibition all those years ago and I still have the magnet they gave me in 2010 on my fridge today.

I wont be able to make the exhibition on the 24th May 2014 but if you're in the area then they're meeting at Bath Rail station at 11.30pm to spread their magnetic love throughout the city. If you find a magnet or two then they're free to pick up. It's a great way to start your art collection, who knows you might nab an Arantus!

Orange Peel Birds in E17 Hidebird

Was a fabulous day in the welcoming arms of Walthamstow's brilliant art trail this year. I was showing 3 orange peel birds in the brilliant Barrett Road 'Hidebird'.
Birds flew in from all over the world.

I havent been getting much chance with times being so tight to create my art. The girls are getting older and that does give me hope that I'll gain some time in the future.
